Tim Burton and the MOMA

Whew. It's been a week! It's good to look through some pictures from a few weeks back... I headed to the Tim Burton exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art with a friend a couple o' weeks ago. The exhibit sold out quickly, but thanks to our trusty student IDs, we got in! We couldn't take any pictures inside the exhibit, but I went crazy in the MOMA garden area, which was surrounded by lots of odd buildings. The whole area looked like it could be straight out of a Tim Burton film! One of these photos pictures the creative entrance and waiting area before the Burton exhibit (guess which one). Another photo features a grass-cut figure found in the gardens that looks very similar to a certain other grass-cut figure in a certain Tim Burton film (Edward Scissorhands).  The exhibit itself was incredible. It was hard to believe that everything I was seeing came out of this one individual's mind. Crazy and beautiful! Looking through these makes me want to watch a Burton film this very moment. Those of you who are fans, what's your favorite Tim Burton film? I think mine will always be The Nightmare before Christmas. Hope ya'll are having a great week!

Central Park.

I've been feeling a bit worn down lately. This city, as amazing as it is, can really do that to you--wear you down quickly. A quick and easy remedy for me is to grab a camera and go on a photo walk. I had a pretty busy day today...but I managed to sneak in an hour or so walking around on the East Side of Central Park. I don't spend nearly enough time in Central Park. It has really come to life these past spring days...kids and dogs and people and music and runners and rollerskaters...you can find just about anything and everything there! I am obsessed with all of the green and explosions of color and flowers on the trees. It pretty much puts my other post on spring colors to shame :). Hope you all are having a splendid weekend and enjoying the color in your life!

Some randoms from my amazing trip to California last week! I got back on Monday morning physically exhausted, but my soul was refreshed! I didn't bring my DSLR or what I like to call my "big camera" because I was trying to pack extremely light. So I brought along my little canon powershot and a disposable camera, which made for some interesting images! :). Here are my favorites. I'll explain in a list this time:
1. Pepperdine and Malibu at sunset. Did I really go to school there?
2. LA from a distance. I always forget how huge the city is.
3. Ducks at the beach??!!
4. They sat right in front of us and decided to stay for a while.
5. Then they took a nap.
6. The more natural looking sea gulls.
7. Pepperdine and Malibu during the day. Did I really go to school there?
8/9/10/11: I took my friend Katie's cute puppy for a walk in the hills...and I think I wore her out. And we saw horses.
12. Lunch at my favorite Urth Cafe.

That's all for now! Hope you all had a lovely weekend! It's been a while! :)

I spent last Wednesday in Chelsea market with a good friend. We stumbled upon this cool Asian tea place. We honestly didn't like the tea very much, but the atmosphere was so amazing we ended up staying for around an hour or so. Nice to find a peaceful place like that in the middle of this city. We then stumbled upon High Line...an old railroad that used to run years ago and has now become an elevated walking path and provides nice views of the city and river. Grass and small bushes have taken over the railroad, which is now surrounded by a cement walkway and benches and tables.  Most of my pictures of the sunset near the piers came out blurry so here is the semi-in focus one.

I'm taking a little vacation this week and I'm headed to LA tomorrow!!! I can't wait to wear flip flops everyday, go to the beach, and eat at some favorite restaurants! Mostly I can't wait to see my friends there and at Pepperdine (my alma mater!). And if you are still a student at Pepperdine, I'm actually speaking with Dominique and Gared about last summer's India trip at 12pm on Thursday in the Fireside room (convo credit!). Come if you'd like!! :) :)

Everything is exploding here. It's insane. So I took some pictures of all the beauty making us sneeze :). The third picture by the way is totally unedited! It just looked like that...green against grey.
