After an hour or so at the cherry pie stand, we made it to the little town of Estes Park right around dusk. It was freezing...the kind of evening where you stroll outside for approximately 3 minutes before dashing into the first mom and pop store that sells homemade fudge, saltwater taffy, ice cream, and hot chocolate (and there are many!). We meant to spend an evening in Estes Park before Christmas, but never got around to it what with the busyness of the holiday season. But it didn't matter too much, as the whole town was still decked out in lights and wreaths. We pretended like it was Christmastime :).

I've been enjoying this song today (via On My Way).

-- I have to share a few pictures from last weekend and introduce you to the Colorado Cherry Company's cherry pie stand just outside of Estes Park, CO. The.absolute.best. cherry pie I've ever tasted!! And I can't forget the chilled cider. Who has ever heard of blackberry cider?! Incredible!

Also, I must introduce you to the boyfriend. Our little day in Estes Park was all his idea...cherry pie stand included. I think he's a keeper :)

This is too adorable for words! (and makes me want to learn french!)

--A few Christmas gifts I received this year...
I was totally surprised by everything! My mom found the beautiful oxford shoes and owl necklace (doesn't she have incredible taste?!). The fingerless gloves were a gift from one of my sisters, the shirts from a sweet boy :), and the red beads were a special gift from my grandmother, passed down from my great-grandmother's things. I'm completely in love with everything!

In other news, things have a been a little crazy around here...but I'm gradually getting back into the swing of things, and hoping to share a few more photos soon. Hope you are well and enjoying the new year so far!

--Before Christmas, I spent a cozy afternoon at The Wisdom Tea House in Monument, Colorado with my mom and all of my sisters.  I love this place. I love getting to choose my own tea cup, ordering a personal pot of spicy masala chai, and curling up in a corner on a vintage sofa with some of my favorite people. Is there anything better? :)

In 2010, I watched my sister and brother in law tie the knot in my hometown. I took a leap of faith and quit my grad program at Columbia University, only to find a job at the university a month later and spend the next nine months falling in love with New York City. I visited my friend Michelle in Boston, and my alma mater in LA. I took another leap of faith in August and left New York for my home state of Colorado, where I completed my TEFL certification and began teaching ESL classes. Once again, this year has been a whirlwind, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's been a challenging year as well, and there have been many tears and feelings of loss between the laughter and adventure. But through it all, I am deeply thankful for my family and community scattered through New York City, California, and Colorado, who have loved me unconditionally and sustained me this year. I'm beginning 2011 in a new relationship, and on the brink of yet another (international) move. And I couldn't be more excited, content, and thankful.

Above are some of my favorite and personal best shots of 2010. :) (And here is 2009's post if you're interested). Thank you for your comments and community over the past year!! Wishing you a new year full of friends and family, laughter, food, and adventure!
